Discover the Best of Anime 2020
Every winter, spring, summer, and fall seasons, there are a wide variety of memorable songs, breathtaking visuals, unforgettable characters, and outstanding stories. The Anime Hajime Highlights are a chance to look back on the previous year and celebrate anime at its best.
The 3rd Annual Anime Hajime Highlights will be held between February 22nd, 2021 and February 26th, 2021.

Eligibility
- An anime’s final episode must air between January 1st, 2020 and December 31st, 2020.
- Consecutive-cour rule:
- If a series is part of a two or more consecutive-cour, and if the final episode of the final cour DOES’T air within the stated time period, it WILL NOT BE eligible for the 2020 Highlights. Rather they will be eligible to take part in the 2021 Highlights.
- Examples of such series include, but are not limited to:
- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni – Gou
- Jujutsu Kaisen
- Attack on Titan Final Season
- Examples of such series include, but are not limited to:
- If a series is part of a two or more consecutive-cour, and if the final episode of the final cour DOES’T air within the stated time period, it WILL NOT BE eligible for the 2020 Highlights. Rather they will be eligible to take part in the 2021 Highlights.
- Split-cour rule:
- If a series is part of a split-cour and if one cour’s final episode airs BETWEEN the stated dates, it will be counted as a separate, individual series, and thus, it WILL BE eligible for the 2020 Highlights.
- If a series is part of a split-cour and if one cour’s final episode airs OUTSIDE the stated dates, it will be counted as a separate, individual series, and thus, it WILL NOT BE eligible for the 2020 Highlights.
- Single cour exceptions:
- Special exceptions for eligibility will be made to specific single-cour series whose final episode aired outside of the stated dates but whose first episode aired during the stated dates.
- Consecutive-cour rule:
- Any series that meets the above requirements MUST have been reviewed by any Anime Hajime reviewer by 5:00 P.M. PST Saturday, February 20th, 2021, to be eligible for the 2020 Highlights.
Please understand, not every series release in 2020 was reviewed on Anime Hajime. If there is a show you believe should have made it into a particular category, feel free to speak up in the comments section of said category.
