Series Synopsis
It is the return of the three Marui sisters, Mitsuba, Futaba, and Hitoha (voiced respectively by Ayahi Takagaki, Satomi Akesaka, and Haruka Tomatsu). Their days are not all that different from anyone else’s. However, this trio, with the help of their classmates, ensures that no matter what happens, it will, at least, be interesting.
From Mitsuba’s short-fuse brattiness to Futaba’s loveable but destructive nature to Hitoha’s often terrifying coldness, these three are a force that is hard to stop. Therefore, those people who don’t think they can join in the craziness better step out of the way.
It is once again time for Mitsudomoe.
Series Positives
This review will be short – like, really, really short. It annoys me how little I have to say about this series.
With other comedy series I have covered – Minami-ke Okaeri, Amagi Brilliant Park, Yuru Yuri, and Hanamaru Youchien – it was the same circumstance. Although those shows were funny, they all failed to get a genuine laugh out of me a second time. I, of course, standby the notion that each was solidly hilarious, and they will most likely land upon your first viewing.
(Granted, for reasons, I actually ended up not recommending Hanamaru Youchien, but the point remains the same.)
Me having so little to say about Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu is not because I don’t want to sound like a broken record. Instead, I am having trouble because this series did not have that problem. Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu was as funny the second time as it was the first, and the first was pretty damn funny.
There is one point I do want to add. Although Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu was very much its predecessor – and with both installments being excellent – I would give the edge to the second season, if only slightly. There are two reasons for this.
First, Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu had nearly zero misunderstanding-humor (jokes centered around characters misrepresenting the meaning of a given situation). I will admit, this is a style of comedy I don’t personally enjoy, and thus, it was my least favorite aspect of the original series, which employed this method a little too often for my liking. It was the only criticism I gave to season one, and if you don’t mind these kinds of jokes, then there isn’t any need to worry. Regardless, season two focused more on the interactions the Marui sisters had with each other and their classmates. Speaking of which:
Second, Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu didn’t have to concern itself with introducing its cast. Season one didn’t run into any problems when doing that, but having the freedom granted by establishment can be wonderous. If you need proof, just watch this installment.
Lastly – again, I said this was going to be a short review – the best thing, or rather, things about this series were the three Marui sisters, Mitsuba, Futaba, and Hitoha. Call me out in the comments, but I don’t believe there is a better depiction of siblings anywhere in anime. Towards each other, this trio could be vindictive, violent, conniving, traitorous, and all-around nasty while at the same time, loving, supportive, and in it together. Considering my relationship with my own sibling, low blows are allowed, deception is a given, and you could go right to hell if you think you get to have more pieces of bacon than me. But if some else decides to mess with one of us, they just messed with all of us.
Mitsudomoe works as a series because it is merely an exaggeration of circumstances that don’t feel too far-fetched. The Marui sisters, and by extension, every other character, are not inconceivable. Perhaps somewhere there is a group of triplets living out there lives in a perpetual state of warring cooperation.
Whatever it may be, Mistudomoe Zouryouchuu has certainly held up.

Final Thoughts
This series was fantastic. It was as good the second time as it was the first. This show simply got it.
The characters were fun, the jokes were hilarious, and I never even mentioned how well-done the animation was. Seriously, on pure visuals alone, this series was quite impressive.
I don’t like to skimp on a section for a review, but sometimes I don’t have a choice.
Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu has earned a massive recommendation.
