Episode 1 – “The Wandering Knight Sets Out to Make the World a Better Place” – April 7, 2022
Episode Summary
A gang of bandits has captured a young noble lady and her handmaiden. Just as the villains are about to have their way, a knight in brilliant armor appears and slays the monsters.
Our story flashbacks to a random afternoon sometime earlier. The knight wakes up and has no idea how he got to where he is. The last thing he remembers was playing his favorite RPG before falling asleep. Now, he has been transported to said game as his character, Arc.
Due to many intense grinding and leveling-up sessions, Arc is a mighty warrior – but, at present, a broke one. Arc heads to the nearest town to find employment. However, he remembers that his avatar was that of a skeleton. Thus, he decides it would be best to keep as low a profile as possible.
Arc makes it to the local adventurers’ guild and registers his name. But to fully join, Arc must return with the bounty from either defeated beasts, monsters, or thieves.
Due to his enhanced skills, Arc makes easy work of his task. As he is finishing up, he comes across the scene of the noble lady, handmaiden, and bandits. Upon saving the women – Lauren Laraiya du Luvierte of the Luvierte family and her attendant Rita – Arc escorts the pair to their destination.
After leading Lauren and Rita back home, Arc heads to the nearest inn and steels himself to live the life of an adventurer.
Episode Impressions
Yep, this is an isekai through and through.
We are one episode in, and all Skeleton Knight has to work with is its gimmick – the hero is, well, a skeleton.
To be honest with you, I don’t think this is going to be a bad show. By that same estimate, though, I don’t see how it will become a memorable one either. The isekai genre is on life-support; this series is, frankly, ten years too late.
I am going to say that Skeleton Knight’s standing is poor because what else can I say? This first episode really needed to wow me, and that simply didn’t happen. There might be entertainment to come, but I doubt anything exhilarating will occur.
