Episode 3 – “I’ll Never Lose to You” – May 8, 2022
Episode Summary
Nagi Umino and Erika Amano begin their two-week stretch of living together. As expected, their vastly different worlds and the pushiness of the parents make for an awkward transition. Nevertheless, the two try to make the most out of the situation.
In particular, Nagi throws himself into his studies to final best his rival and crush, Hiro Segawa.
People are all the rage at school after Nagi boldly declares war on Hiro; he even managed to best her in the most recent exam. Then, Nagi receives an unexpected curveball. He gets a note from Hiro asking him to meet after classes.
Unsure what to think, Nagi hopes this is his big break. However, rather than a confession of love, Hiro returns Nagi’s challenge and vows to come out on top from this point onward.
Episode Impressions
Maybe Hiro Segawa is the boost this series needs because, my God, it needs something.
The entire situation between Nagi and Erika is painfully dull, dry, uncomfortable, and infuriating. Although this show tries to play up everything in a humorous light, it simply isn’t that funny.
We are only three episodes in, and already I am dreading each installment. Heck, if it wasn’t for Shadowverse Flame airing at the same time, A Couple of Cuckoos would be the low point of my week. If things don’t change soon, I am not sure how I will get through the rest of this series.
