There is so much anime in a given year, and 2020 was something else. For many, anime was the escape they needed to get through lockdowns and quarantines. The pandemic has had a far-reaching hand, and the anime world did not go unaffected. There were delays, hiatus, and reschedules. Nevertheless, when we needed a break from it all, there was always a show to watch.
2020 also saw the unmistakable rise and solidification of series releasing onto online streaming sites like Netflix and Crunchyroll. This trend has opened the floodgates to more adventurous stories, and it is now a factor in the viewing experience.
As we look to 2021, which is already demonstrating great promise, let us remember where we have been.

TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You tells of an unlikely couple who suddenly find themselves as newlyweds. Although their marriage circumstances are unique, the two quickly fall for one another in this charming little love story.
