Episode 5 – “The Story of a Lonely King” – May 4, 2022
Episode Summary
The Frenzied King of Dragons, Elzard, has kidnapped Ireena Lits de Olhyde. Thus, Ard Meteor rushes to save his closest friend. To help, Ireena’s father grants Ard access to the royal treasury to use whatever he needs for the rescue mission.
At the same time, Elzard explains that she wants to use Ireena’s blood to power a being known as an Orphan of Chaos to destroy the world. Just as the sacrifice is about to happen, Ard arrives and instantly vaporizes all Elzard’s forces.
Ard frees Ireena and turns to face Elzard. However, Elzard gleefully reveals Ireena’s darkest secret:
Ireena is the land’s true princess, Laville, and her family contains the blood of the Evil Gods.
Although most people would grow horrified with such a revelation, Ard doesn’t hesitate to brush it aside. To him, such information is inconsequential. Ireena is his friend, and that is all that matters.
Realizing her trump card has had no effect, Elzard attacks. Unfortunately for the Dragon King, she is no match for the former Demon Lord.
Episode Impressions
My opinion of this show is slowly going down. Whatever I might have seen in the first few episodes has been around lately. Demon Lord is genuinely becoming a bare average anime.
This episode could – and probably should have – been all kinds of satisfying. Instead, it barely left a mark. Sure, Ard’s instant acceptance of Ireena was nice, but that was just one moment.
I’ll give this show one more week before I decide to change its standing or not.
